Introduction

There are many things you can do with EVE-OS and ZEDEDA Cloud to implement and scale your distributed edge orchestration and management. However, these are the barebones steps that you need for a minimal viable setup.

  1. Get EVE-OS
  2. Create a Project in ZEDEDA Cloud (if one has not already been created for you).
  3. Onboard an edge node to ZEDEDA Cloud.
  4. Configure a network to connect your edge node to ZEDEDA Cloud.
  5. Add edge applications from the Marketplace, which represents the Metadata manifest of the software application.
  6. Deploy the edge application instance on the edge node to instantiate the app.

Expanded Setup

If you need more than MVP, there are additional things you can configure.

  1. Get EVE-OS
    1. Flash an EVE-OS installer or live image.
    2. Install EVE-OS on your edge node.
  2. Onboard an edge node to ZEDEDA Cloud.
    1. Create a Project in ZEDEDA Cloud (if one has not already been created for you).
    2. Configure a network to connect your edge node to ZEDEDA Cloud.
    3. Assign a network adapter for management.
  3. Add edge applications from the Marketplace, which represents the Metadata manifest of the software application.
    1. Add Storage if you’re adding your own app to the local marketplace.
    2. Configure inbound and outbound firewall rules for network traffic.
  4. Configure a network instance to enable network connectivity for your edge apps, including enabling edge apps on the same edge node to communicate with one another.
  5. Deploy the edge application on the edge node.
  6. Manage your edge nodes and edge apps.
  7. Administer your projects, users, and roles.
  8. Dashboard.
